• It can get a tad cold, but there are plenty of heaters and blankets around

Cambodia

• You need to pay for your own tuk tuk back from town in the evenings, but its hardly expensive

• No air con, so prepare to sweat a little … you are in SE Asia though so this is to be expected
• They have dogs – in case you’re not a dog person.

Croatia

• Cool tours on offer
• Small bar
• Right in the middle of the old town

• Air con is on a timer and switched off too early in the morning in my opinion.  It does make you get up and go out though.
• Reception only open for selected hours.

• An amazing host
• Amazing view over the old town from the rooms
• A lovely garden

• Many many stairs need to be climbed to reach the guesthouse when returning from the old town.

Czech Rep

• Comfy beds
• Secure lifts up to the rooms
• Just incredible value for money, the beds are so cheap

• A tram ride is required to get into town, but its not far.

England

• Set in an old court house
• You can spend the night in an old jail cell
• Old court room is now a common area
• Free breakfast

• Highly secure
• Tour desk

• 10-15 Min walk from Kings Cross station
• Breakfast can be a bit of a fight

Germany

Hungary

• Bathrooms were a bit rough around the edges, but that really didn’t matter all that much.
• Not the easiest to find at first.

Ireland (Northern and Republic)

• Nice kitchen area

• Outdoor bar/pool/smoking area.

• Maybe not a hostel for those that like an early night.  Things are late and loud.

• Cool lounge area

• The hostel is spread out over 2 different buildings.  Whilst they are at the same rate, the facilities vary massively.  The secondary building is nowhere near as nice as the main building.

• AMAZING location.  Right on the Atlantic coast.
• Log fire
• Access to the beach just 5 minutes away

• You will need a car to access the hostel.

Jordan

• Simply amazing hosts, they cannot do enough for you.  This includes setting up onward travel arrangements
• Cheap and tasty meals offered each evening.
• Free breakfast in the morning.
• Pack lunches can be ordered.
• Free lift down to the Petra site
• Excellent lounge area, a great place to meet other travellers.

• Whilst your ride down to Petra is covered, you will have to pay for your own ride back up to the hostel once you’re finished for the day.  This costs a mere 2JD though.

• A great travel desk with a whole host of tours on offer.
• Central, very very central.
• Free breakfast.
• Small cafe downstairs is very handy and fairly priced.
• Secure!

• Take ear plugs.  Its very central, and so can get very noisy.

Laos

• Super tour desk
• Hostel dog
• 24 hour reception

• Super cheap
• Nice garden area

• Very basic rooms

• Great location, right next to a host of bars and restaurants.
• Night guard

• More a guesthouse than a hostel, so no common room.

Latvia

• Brilliantly social
• Tour desk
• Table football and quiet reading area

• You have to do a shot of something awful upon check in.  Almost threw my guts up.
• Huge Mosquitoes in our room?!

Morocco

• Great pick up service from the airport
• Brilliant host
• Tradition dinners offered
• Free breakfast
• Fantastic roof terrace

• Not the easiest to find, but you get the hang of it after being shown once or twice.

New Zealand

• Located on main street
• Tour desk
• Bar
• Pizza nights
• Female only floor for those ladies looking for an escape from the boys.

Poland

• Right at the top of main street.  close to all the bars, restaurants and beach
• Nice common area

•  Stairs, lots of them to carry your bags up.

• Big rooms with modern design
• Games room
• Located 1 minute from the main square

• Great tour desk
• Free meal every evening
• Fun staff
• Located 5 mins from the old town.

South Africa

• Great tour desk

• Very secure  – gated

• ITS A TRAIN!

Thailand

• Showers housed a fair few mosquitos.

• Located right on the beach
• Has an AMAZING apartment to rent which sleeps 4 people over two floors and has a balcony.  Reasonable price.
• Nice restaurant.

• On the main strip, so pretty noisy .. but chances are if you’re booked to stay on Koh Samui, you’re here for the noise.
