Croatians are no stranger to an exciting music festival, and the beautiful Poreč Riviera has just wrapped up one of the highlights of its annual calendar – the Poreč 24 Hour festival, when the town’s picturesque harbour came to life for four days of music, fireworks and sunshine-fuelled fun.
Poreč 24
Organised by the towns tourist council and kicking off on August 15th, the festival – which clearly lasted for much longer than just 24 hours, more like 3 days – launched with performances from Croatian bands including Cirkus and Carpe Diem, followed by the likes of the Blue Jeans Band, Jelena Rozga and Poreč favourites, the Night Express. For those visiting on holidays to Croatia the names wont have been particularly familiar, but judging by the mixture of tourists and locals that enjoyed each live shows, it was taking in the atmosphere that really mattered. Aiding the friendly atmosphere was a plentiful supply of Croatian delicacies and freely flowing beer at bars across Freedom Square, Marafor Square and the Marina. These proved to be the perfect accompaniment to the Istrian sunshine!

Once the bands had finished it was time for the DJ’s to take centre stage. A clubbers haven throughout the summer, for the festival the DJ’s simply moved from their residencies at Byblos, Club Plava and Villa Club to the streets. Thes clubs and clubbers in Porec are no strangers to big name DJ’s. David Guetta, Axwell, Paul Oakenfold and Afrojack have all been know to hype crowds to a frenzy
Going Out With a Bang
To bring the festival to its conclusion revellers were treated to a spectacular fireworks show at midnight on the final day, lighting up the harbour and the turquoise waters and ensuring that this year’s Poreč 24 Hour festival would be one not to forget.
Once the festival was wrapped up for this year the bars and clubs of Poreč became packed out and those visiting on cheap holidays to Croatia got a taste of how the Croatians really party! Local hotspots like Villa Club and La Cioccolata stayed open until the early hours, whereas the beaches of Poreč were filled with post-festival parties even past sunrise.
