The Great Ocean Road or more to the point, driving down The Great Ocean Road is a must for any backpacker visiting Melbourne. Hiring a car or taking a day tour is easy enough and also within budget so there are really no excuses.
Shock horror, I didnt have the best of times in Melbourne. I know, blasphemy. But I was tired after a year on the road, I had sod all money left, had the dread of going home to find a job again, and it rained the whole time I was there. I’m sure if I went back I would love it. Anyway, my day trip along the Great Ocean Road was the highlight of my time there. Stopping at incredible places such as Bells Beach (surf meca), London Bridge (yep it fell down) and course the 12 Apostles which feature as this weeks Pic(s) of the week. Ok I cheated a little with 2 pictures, but they were both pretty good. The same angle, but two shots minutes apart. Funny what a bit of cloud cover can do.
Beautiful… I never made it this far along the Great Ocean Road so I am already planning my return. x
@Frankie – So worth it, I loved the tour and its not just that section of the road thats beautiful, there are so many other great stop offs.
Thanks for you comment and Rt :-)
The Great Ocean Road iPhone App that is now available is certainly the best way to find great places along the Great Ocean Road. Over 70 surfing spots.

Beautiful photographs. I just posted an article on my trip to Melbourne on my page. The Great Ocean Road tour was defenitly amazing. I did however stay for 3 weeks in Melbourne and just loved the place.
@Raghav – My assessment of Melbourne isnt fair i’ll grant you that. I was ready to go home for a bit and was out of money. I’d love to go back and see it properly.
